The Bridal Edit: Your Fall Wedding Spray Tan Guide
The Bridal Edit: Your Fall Wedding Spray Tan Guide
Everything you need to know about planning your bridal spray tan for fall wedding season.
Fall wedding season is almost here—and if a spray tan is part of your bridal beauty plan (as it should be), now is the time to start thinking about it.
At Cowtown Tanning, we work with brides throughout Fort Worth, Parker County, Weatherford, Aledo, and the surrounding DFW area for wedding-day spray tans, bridal portraits, engagement photos, bachelorette weekends, and everything leading up to “I do.”
Our biggest piece of advice?
Don't make your wedding spray tan your first spray tan.
Here's how we recommend planning your bridal airbrush tan from trial to wedding day.
First: Schedule a Bridal Spray Tan Trial
A bridal trial gives you the opportunity to see exactly how your airbrush tan develops on your skin before the wedding.
We recommend scheduling your trial a few weeks before your wedding whenever possible.
Your Cowtown spray tan artist can use this appointment to learn what you love—including your preferred depth of color, development time, and overall look—and make any adjustments before your wedding appointment.
Bridal Tip: Have another wedding event coming up? Schedule your trial before your bridal shower, bachelorette party, engagement photos, or dress fitting so you can put the tan to good use.
When Should a Bride Get a Spray Tan Before the Wedding?
Our recommendation is two days before your wedding.
Saturday wedding? Book your bridal spray tan for Thursday.
This gives your airbrush tan time to fully develop and allows you to complete your recommended first shower well before wedding-day beauty preparations begin.
It also means you're not trying to protect a developing spray tan during the chaos of your rehearsal dinner or wedding morning.
Prep Your Skin Before Your Bridal Spray Tan
A beautiful bridal spray tan starts with properly prepared skin.
In the days leading up to your appointment, keep your skin hydrated with our Cowtown Tanning Sunless-Safe Body Lotion or Sunless-Safe Body Oil and by Drinking plenty of Water.
Then:
24–48 hours before: Thoroughly exfoliate and remove any previous sunless tan.
12–24 hours before: Shave whenever possible. Our LATHER Body Wash can also be used while shaving without the heavy residue some traditional shaving products can leave behind.
Before your spray tan: Complete waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, and other beauty appointments.
Appointment day: Arrive with clean, dry skin without lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume, or other products that may create a barrier.
Your spray tan should be one of the last appointments on your bridal beauty schedule.
How Dark Should Your Wedding Spray Tan Be?
This is where customization matters.
Your bridal spray tan shouldn't automatically mean your darkest spray tan.
We consider your natural skin tone, undertones, dress, wedding aesthetic, photography, previous tanning experience, and—most importantly—how you want to look and feel on your wedding day.
Some brides want noticeable bronze color. Others want something incredibly subtle.
There's no universal bridal shade.
That's one of the reasons Cowtown Tanning specializes in custom airbrush tanning rather than automated spray booths. Your trained spray tan artist can customize your application specifically for you.
Don't Forget Your Fall Wedding Details
Fall weddings bring their own spray tan considerations.
Cooler weather usually means sweaters, leggings, boots, and layers—exactly the types of clothing we don't want rubbing against a freshly applied spray tan.
For your appointment, bring dark, loose-fitting clothing to wear home and avoid tight waistbands, leggings, bras, or restrictive clothing while your tan develops.
Rain in the forecast? Come prepared with clothing and shoes that keep your skin completely covered and protected from water.
What About Bridesmaids & the Mother of the Bride?
Bridal spray tanning isn't just for the bride.
We regularly work with bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, wedding party members, and wedding guestswho want a professional airbrush tan before the celebration.
If several people in your wedding party want spray tans, reach out to our team ahead of time so we can help coordinate appointments and timing and to see if you'd be eligible for any group discounts.
