DO I NEED TO BOOK A TRIAL TAN?
Yes!
A trial spray tan is recommended, especially if it's your first time but even if you have been into the salon with us before. A trial tan is essential to determining your perfect wedding color.
We always recommend a "trial tan" at least 2-3 weeks before the big event spray tan. This allows you to make sure you are in love with the color and depth of tone of your tan.
We like to tell our brides to use their trial tan as one of their Bridal event tans so no tans go to waste, whether that be a Bridal Shower, Bachelorette Party, or even just Wedding Dress Shopping!
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY WEDDING TAN?
We recommend scheduling your wedding spray tan 2–3 days before your wedding day for the best results. This gives your tan time to fully develop and ensures you’ll be glowing on your big day!
For destination weddings, if you're leaving several days before the wedding, please let your technician know. We can adjust your solution formula, add Moisture Lock to help extend the life of your tan, and provide you with the right aftercare products to ensure your tan stays flawless throughout your travels and event.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY NAIL APPOINTMENT?
Any waxing, massages, facials, manicures, or pedicures should be scheduled at least 24 hours before your spray tan.
Important: Do not schedule any beauty treatments after your spray tan, as they can affect the quality and longevity of your tan.
WILL THE TAN TRANSFER TO MY WEDDING DRESS?
We know the horror stories, and we’re here to ensure that doesn’t happen on your big day! At Cowtown Tanning, we take extra precautions to prevent any tan transfer onto your wedding dress.
Here’s how we do it:
1. Shower with tan-safe body wash: We recommend at least two showers with a tan-safe body wash to remove any cosmetic bronzers from your skin before your wedding day. This step ensures no unwanted bronzer is left on your skin, preventing transfer to your dress.
2. Customize your solution: If you're concerned about bronzers staining your dress or other materials, we recommend opting for our"Clear Glow"solution. This is the safest option if you're worried about any potential staining, as it contains no cosmetic bronzers, ensuring it won’t leave any marks.
While our bronzers are water-soluble and typically rinse out of most fabrics if any contact occurs, we want to make sure you feel completely confident and prepared. We’ve had many happy brides dress up without issues, but we always like to cover all the "what-ifs" for your peace of mind.
HOW LONG DOES THE SPRAY TAN LAST?
Our sunless tans are formulated to last 7–10 days, so you’ll be glowing all the way through your honeymoon! However, the longevity of your tan can be influenced by how well you prep your skin before the tan and what products you use after your session.
To keep your tan looking fresh and vibrant, we recommend using at least a tan-safe body lotion and tan-safe body wash. These products help prevent cracking from dry skin and avoid premature fading caused by products that aren’t designed for sunless tans.
IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN PURCHASE TO HELP EXTEND MY TAN?
We have a few tips to help ensure your tan lasts and looks perfect for your big day:
1. Add Moisture Lock to your spray tan: This post-tan hydrator, applied by your technician, seals in moisture and can extend the life of your tan by 2–3 days. It’s a great way to keep your glow fresh leading up to the wedding.
2. Glo on the Go Kit: If you're heading to a tropical destination before or after your wedding, we highly recommend our Glo on the Go Kit! This TSA-approved kit is perfect for replenishing your tan when it starts to fade due to sun, saltwater, or chlorine exposure.
3. Tan Extending Lotion: Starting onday 3 of your tan, we recommend using a Tan Extending Lotion each evening to gradually replenish the color that naturally fades as your skin sheds.
Pro Tip: Be sure to wash your hands after using any tan extenders or gradual tanners to avoid staining the palms.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I SHOULD ASSESS MY TRIAL TAN?
After the initial rinse time recommended by your technician, rinse with water and take a full shower (using soap) 24 hours later.
When it's time to assess your tan (typically 2-4 days before your wedding), take a moment to evaluate it in natural light while wearing something in a color similar to your wedding attire. This will allow you to give us accurate feedback during your return visit, so we can make any adjustments for your final tan appointment. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we want to ensure you’re glowing perfectly on your big day!
WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO MY TRIAL TAN BEFORE THE WEDDING TAN?
No worries at all! If your trial tan turns out a bit too dark or not quite dark enough, your technician will have a pre-consultation with you before your final bridal tan appointment. This gives us the opportunity to discuss any adjustments you’d like to make based on your trial session.
